    • Why would I need a math tutor?

To some people, learning math is easy. However, many people find math to be a very challenging subject. Usually, this is not because they lack the intelligence or skill, but because of less than optimal instruction in grade school and/or high school. Most people have the necessary aptitude for learning mathematics.

The problem with learning in a classroom setting is this: you can't get the individualized instruction that you need. This is usually not the instructors fault - they can't afford to take the time necessary to make sure that each student understands each topic thoroughly before continuing on to the next.

One-on-one tutoring solves this problem. I have the patience and the time to devote 100% of my attention to you. I can study how you learn best, where your problem areas lie, and give you the direction you need to help you gain a deeper understanding of the subject - something that is difficult to do in a classroom setting.

    • Where does the tutoring session take place?

I can either come to your home, or we can meet at a previously agreed upon location such as a coffee shop, library, bookstore, etc.

    • How long does a tutoring session last, and how frequent are the sessions?

The length and frequency of the sessions is entirely up to you. Some students only require a one-time, one hour session to clarify a concept they didn't understand in class. Others may have deeper problems, or be stuck in a class with a teacher they don't understand. These students may require tutoring on a weekly basis to keep up with the rest of their class.

    • How much do you charge for a tutoring session?

I charge $40 per hour, which is payable in cash or by check.

    • Which areas of math do you provide tutoring for?

I provide tutoring in all areas of mathematics including (but not limited to) basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and all levels of calculus to students of any age. I do not provide tutoring in statistics.
